The idea for the MacLaren Fixture Co. flickered to life in a kitchen in Sagaponack, Long Island. The owner of the handsome shingled one-time farm house mused that he had never seen contemporary flush mount light fixtures as beautiful as the three antique porcelain ones in his kitchen and pantry. Soon thereafter, sketches were made starting with the Sagaponack fixture followed by many others. Prototypes were thrown on the potter’s wheel, fired and glazed, then assessed on their aesthetic and practical merits. The fixtures now in production appear in The Catalog, others can be seen In Development.
